Counting down
Our story
Some stories take years to tell properly. Ours started long before either of us thought to call it a story, and it has been gathering speed ever since.
There was a first conversation that ran far too late. There were all the ordinary days that turned out to be the important ones. And there was an evening in a garden where one of us finally asked the question the other had been waiting for.
The rest we will tell you in person at Alatskivi. Come and celebrate it with us.
The wedding
A white neo-Gothic castle in the Estonian countryside, built in the 1880s and modelled on Balmoral in Scotland. It stands in an old park near Lake Peipus about 40 minutes from Tartu, with towers and turrets that look like they came out of a story book.

Getting there
Alatskivi sits in eastern Estonia between Tartu and Lake Peipus. Most guests fly to Tallinn and drive from there.
Fly to Tallinn (TLL) and drive about 2 hours 45 minutes. Riga (RIX) is an alternative at about 4 hours. Tartu (TAY) has a small airport about 40 minutes away.
Alatskivi is about 40 minutes northeast of Tartu on road 43. From Tallinn allow around 2 hours 45 minutes. The drive along Lake Peipus is worth the detour.
There is parking at the castle and it is free. We will confirm where to leave the car closer to the day.
Route times are our own estimates and we will verify them before the invitations go out.
Where to sleep
Alatskivi is small, so most guests stay in Tartu and drive out. We are holding rooms and will confirm the details here.
The castle has a small number of rooms. We will let you know how many we can offer and how to claim one.
Visit websiteA handful of guesthouses and farm stays sit within 15 minutes of the castle. We are picking the best of them for you.
Details to comeTartu is 40 minutes away and has everything from grand old hotels to small apartments. We will recommend three.
Details to comeWhat to wear
Festive formal. Long dresses and dark suits. Bring shoes you can dance in and something warm for later. Nights in Estonia can be cooler in July than you expect.
Emerald, ivory and gold. You are very welcome to lean into them.
The final wording is confirmed on your invitation.
Say yes
Let us know whether you can make it. One reply per household is plenty.

Good to know
Your invitation will say. If it does not say otherwise, please assume the invitation is for the guests named on it.
Your invitation names everyone we have room for. If you are unsure just ask us and we will sort it out.
We would love you fully present for the ceremony itself, so phones away for those minutes. Afterwards please photograph everything.
Everything has an indoor home at the castle. Bring a light coat and it will be a good day whatever the sky does.
We are looking into it and will confirm here before the invitations go out.
Write to us. We would much rather answer twice than have you wondering.
